Itinerary

2007 Taco Crawl
Jackson Heights, Queens (Google map)

The meeting place is a friendly Irish bar on 73rd less than one block from the Roosevelt station ( MTA info). This particular strip of Roosevelt Ave is very busy and should be a lot of fun. Besides bars and taco joints, there are plenty of fruit juices and pastries. Sunset Park, the site of last year's taco crawl, seems quiet by comparison.

Bring a friend, a camera and good walking shoes. See you there!

(1)
1:00 to 2:30
Ready Penny Inn, 3707 73rd (between Roosevelt Ave and 37th) Arrive, have a drink and put some songs on the jukebox. Exit the Roosevelt station and head one block north on 73rd. The bar will be on your right.

(2)
2:35 to 3:10
El Poblano, 75-13 Roosevelt AveVery good tacos, very loud jukebox.

(3)
3:15 to 3:50
Cafe Espana, 8103 Roosevelt Ave A decent, two-floor bar with TVs and billiards

(4)
3:55 to 4:30
Street Eating at 86th Street We have three options: two carts and a walk-up taco place. It might be good to split up so we don't overwhelm any one place.

- Unnamed cart in front of 85-11 Roosevelt Ave, next to Bravo Supermarket. This cart makes great quesadillas ($2 each) with an incredible tortilla. The cart does not have tacos.
- Delicias Isabel cart at 86-01 Roosevelt Ave, in front of Payless ShoeSource. Tacos ($2 each) and tortas.
- In addition, there is a walk-up taco place on the other side of the street if the carts are too busy.

(5)
4:35 to 5:15
Centro, 86-10 Roosevelt Ave (at Elberton)New place with fancy bar, billiards and $3 pints of Coors Light. From here we turn around and head back to the Roosevelt station.

(6)
5:20 to 5:55
Taqueria Coatzingo, 76-05 Roosevelt AveMany different tacos (even salty beef and spicy pork), $2 each. More of a proper sit-down place, plenty of seating. Big menu.

(7)
6:00 to 6:30
Scorpion Bar, 75-16 Roosevelt AveOne last drink on the way back to the subway station.
